Start with a Legacy Capture Assessment
As we recently did for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), the ISSI team can conduct a remote or onsite evaluation of your current capture implementation. BCBS was using advanced capture software in its most simplistic form: scanning with three Kodak 5850 scanners and using only patch separators. BCBS was forced to manually trigger color scanning using patch sheets and they were having a difficult time with the imprinter/endorser functionality. Almost any entry-level capture software can do this while advanced capture software offers much more capabilities.
To make matters worse, the paper volume at BCBS was shrinking as more documents are delivered digitally – yet their solution costs were increasing. They wanted to downsize and stop paying for volumes they don’t need.
We created a visual workflow to identify everything captured from any source (mail, fax, email, upload), then documented the scanning technology required (OCR, ICR, barcode, advanced data extraction). We made recommendations for replacement of the current capture system in the most cost-effective way without sacrificing functionality. The ISSI team is now in the process of implementing the solution.
